Off the coast of South America, one of the largest offshore rigs encountered complications during a drilling operation. The solution? Abrasive Waterjet Cutting, a cutting-edge technique that proved invaluable in resolving the rig’s challenges.

Despite its busy drilling schedule, the owner opted for meticulous repair, thorough maintenance, and significant capacity optimization. A dry dock was promptly secured, and preparations were made for the monumental task ahead.

Submar, was entrusted with all cutting work on the rig’s toothed slats. The client chose abrasive waterjet cutting for its impressive cutting capacity and its ability to preserve the integrity of the cutting surface. Notably, this technique introduces minimal heat, ensuring cuts do not exceed 60°C, allowing for immediate welding post-cutting.

Over 12 days, Submar completed 36 nearly meter-long cuts through steel with a thickness of 180mm. Another successful project, another satisfied customer!
