An unfortunate manoeuvre in difficult circumstances put an Urk fishing vessel in trouble. The tail of the fishing net was picked up by the propeller. Although the captain reacted lightning fast, everything was stuck a few seconds later. In order to avoid any further damage, it was decided to tow the ship to a safe harbour. A sister ship of the fishing fleet took on this task and brought the ship during the night to the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer. At 6 o’clock in the morning we were ready on the quay. Marie, Carlo and myself. Marie did the preparatory work. She mapped the situation and released the tail from the net. Then Carlo took care of the heavy work. With the help of a deck winch and the efforts of the entire crew, Carlo was able to remove the net in less than two hours. The tail of the net turned out to be hopelessly damaged, but for the rest it was not too bad. A few hours later the ship was back in service.
