The Eunice storm did have some serious consequences.
Eunice was so powerful that it managed to push open the lock gates of Houtemsas.
Thank God the officials of our government were alert and managed to keep the water management of the polders under control during the storm.
As soon as the wind died down, we were invited to provide diving assistance to close the lock gates again.
It turned out that the wind had pushed a whole package of biological material into the lock. This made it impossible to close the doors.
It took our diver a couple of hours of work to remove the thick bundles of reeds in front of the lock entrance barriers.
In the end, all doors could be closed and they were additionally secured with clamping straps.
