We are proud to announce a significant milestone in SUBMAR’s growth: our Board of Directors has expanded from two to four members. With the addition of Thierry Charon and Anaïs Van Loo, we are strengthening our organisation at the strategic, financial, and international level.
Thierry Charon – Advisory Role in Internationalisation
Thierry Charon brings over 35 years of expertise in international trade, customs, VAT, and cross-border business operations. He built his career at one of Europe’s leading law and tax firms, where he served as Partner and co-head of the VAT, Customs & International Trade Practice Group in the Benelux — dividing his time between the Belgian and Luxembourg offices — and ultimately as a member of the Executive Board. He has also served as Chairman of the European VAT Club and as a member of the VAT Expert Group of the European Commission.
Building on this wealth of experience in international business and board-level governance, Thierry now advises organisations on general management and strategic decision-making. At SUBMAR, his role will focus on guiding and professionalising our international expansion.
Anaïs Van Loo – Finance, HR & Strategy
Anaïs is no stranger to SUBMAR. Having previously worked within our organisation in a management role — where she was responsible for financial and liquidity planning and closely supported our management team — she brings both insider knowledge and a broad professional background to her new position as Board member.
Anaïs holds a Master’s degree in Healthcare Management and Policy from Ghent University, and has built a versatile career spanning healthcare, management, and administration. Her combination of analytical thinking, people-oriented leadership, and hands-on experience within SUBMAR makes her the ideal person to take on responsibility for finance, HR policy, and the strategic vision and development of our company. Together with co-founder Thibaut Ingelaere, she recently completed the KMO Excellence programme at Vlerick Business School — a further sign of SUBMAR’s ongoing commitment to professionalisation and growth.
